George Jones

George Jones is one of Northern Ireland’s most accomplished all round entertainers. Best known as TV and radio presenter, comedian, musician, singer and after dinner speaker.

George began his career as a member of the band the Monarchs which included his boyhood friend, Van Morrison, with whom he toured Europe.

Also a member of the highly successful Clubsound, George and the boys toured extensively and still play today.

A natural comic with a very unique and distinctive style of wit, he has developed a reputation as highly successful host and compere.

Awarded the prestigious Sony Radio Award for best regional radio presenter, George has continued to combine his razor sharp wit with his natural musical talent much to the delight of countless fans throughout Ireland.

In addition to his many stage and radio successes, George has also hosted BBC Northern Ireland’s most successful ever television game show – Town Challenge. This was quickly followed by repeated sell-out productions at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and various venues in Ireland with the hugely popular Do You Come Here Often? tribute to the show band era.

Hobbies/Interests

He has enjoyed skiing for over 35 years and also teaches skiing. He is an avid golfer and paints in watercolours.
